Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, has partnered with the Discover Money Network to enable students to open an account with the university’s Student Account Services. It would be separate from their school account and can be used anywhere Discover cards are accepted.
The new ASTATE OneCard “will allow financial aid refunds to be put on the ID and used wherever Discover is used,” said Sheryl Puckett, campus card manager. That means students will have access to their refunds quicker.
The new card includes two mag stripes–one that will allow students to access all the functions of the current ID and the other to handle the Discover account.
However, school officials emphasized that the card is not a credit card. It works like a debit card and students can load funds onto the card as needed.
