When you begin to realistically look at all of the available lanyard options, it can be a challenge to make a decision. How do you know which lanyard is going to be best for you or your organization? To help you answer that question, here are a few things to consider before making your purchase.
1. Style
Since you’ll be wearing your lanyard for most of the work day, it’s important to pick a style that you feel an affinity towards. There are certainly some options that are more popular than others, such as flat braid or round braid lanyards, but ultimately you need to go with what you like the best. There are also eco-friendly lanyards, custom lanyards and several other options that provide unique functionality that may be of interest to you.
2. Safety
There are two lanyard concepts to consider in terms of safety. There is the traditional lanyard and the break-away lanyard. Both are great but the break-away lanyard has the added functionality of being able to break apart if it were to get caught on something or someone. If you work in a hazardous environment where something like this might happen, the break-away lanyard might be the best option for you.
3. Attachment Options
Depending how you would like your ID badge to be carried on your lanyard, you can choose from a variety of attachments and other finishing options. Some of the attachments include swivel hooks, cell phone hooks, badge clips and badge reels. All are unique and provide a slightly different wearing experience.
