Florida Residents Receive Wrong Voter ID Cards

Voter IDAfter more than a million Broward County residents received the wrong voter ID cards in the mail, Florida is experience turmoil over new potential election.

According to Brenda Snipes, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections, local residents received voter cards that had other individual’s names on them. This apparently was the result of a printing mishap of which Commercial Printing Inc. claims responsibility.

Some have been expressing concern that the voter ID mishap represents a new wave of voter disenfranchisement.

According to Snipe, the data on the cards was shifted in the printing process as a result of a weather-related power surge. She added that when the file was sent to her at her office prior to the surge, all of the information was correct.

Snipe’s office is working diligently to correct the error. Their plan is to re-print and ship new voter ID cards but it’s not yet clear when this is supposed to take place.
